“De Haan” is an iconic building in Brouwershaven. Built in 1724 this historic windmill has looked out over the town and the Grevelingen, Western Europe’s largest saltwater lake, for nearly 300 years. De Haan was fully restored and transformed into a sophisticated yet authentic accommodation for up to five persons in 2018. It is situated in a superb location directly on the marina, within a two-minute walk from both the town center as well as the town beach on the Grevelingen.
An once in a lifetime opportunity to spend some days and nights in a 300-year-old mill in the most beautiful spot of Zeeland. De Haan accommodates up to 5 guests comfortably. Dogs are welcome, but if you plan to bring more than two please let us know beforehand.
De Haan is located directly on the marina of Brouwershaven. Restaurants, shops and a supermarket can be reached within 5 easy walking minutes. If you walk in the opposite direction for 5 minutes, you’ll find your feet in the salt water, on a quiet beach, where you can swim, play, sun and spot seals.
Next to the “De Haan” you’ll find this cute cottage built in 1998. Comfortably accommodating up to 4 people, the Huisje onder De Molen makes a fantastic basecamp for holiday makers.
The Huisje onder de Molen is located directly on the marina of Brouwershaven. Restaurants, shops and a supermarket can be reached within 5 easy walking minutes. If you walk in the opposite direction for 5 minutes, you’ll find your feet in the salt water, on a quiet beach, where you can swim, play, sun and spot seals.
The mill is a very special accommodation, with a lot of charm. We stayed there with our 10-year-old son, and were all very impressed. Like staying in a museum. The furnishing fits the building well, and chosen with a loving eye. The staircase is steep, and the bathroom is small – but we knew we didn’t book a modern loft. It’s a mill and we thought these things actually spoke to the atmosphere of the building. The garden and the location of the mill are both a dream. Directly on the harbor, on the dyke close to the town, yet despite that a very quiet romantic retreat. Better is not possible, we’d love to come back.
Adorable holiday cottage in truly picturesque location on the harbor and directly under the old historic mill. We had a very nice time, slept in comfortable beds directly below the sloping roof and ate outside with the views over the marina. We spent time on the beaches in the immediate vicinity (our favorite was Burgh Haamstede), went snorkeling and climbed trees. Brouwershaven has a lot to offer, and the Spar supermarket sells anything you may need. Perhaps you will also find the little box in one of the small streets where fresh eggs are sold. The owners are super friendly – we really enjoyed our first ever vacation in the Netherlands and will definitely come back!
